9:00-9:50 ASL (Beginning level sign language) will meet at 9:00 a.m. for the full year. Open to anyone 12 years of age and up (possibly younger if the student is exceptionally motivated)...can be used for high school credit.
10:00-11:00 Chemistry: Instructional Day. (Kristy Short) Will spend the time going over the material in the book and doing the exercises in the book together. The lab part will be done on Thursdays. Students can take just this instructional part for $40/month, or just the lab for $45/month, or both for $75/month. There is also a lab fee of $25/semester for those taking the Thursday lab. Students should either have completed Algebra 2, or be enrolled in it, or taking it somewhere else in order to do chemistry well.
CLASSES FOR 4th Through 8th Grade: (First semester only, Sept-Nov)
10:00-11:00 Math Games & Projects...approx grades 4-8. $40/month...3 month class...Sept-Oct-Nov. Mary Hood will be teaching. This class is designed to help students get over math phobias, have fun playing games and doing math projects, and get better at their basic facts in preparation for algebra.
11:15-12:15 Creative Writing & Illustrating. Also approximately grades 4-8. This class will also meet for just 3 months, September through November. It will focus on creative writing, developing plots and characters for short stories, plus a little poetry and/or plays, depending on the students' interest. There will also be a bit of art instruction thrown in, as the students work on illustrating their own work. $40/month, Mary Hood
SAT Prep Class will meet for 8 weeks in January and February 10:00-12:00 on Wed, Mary Hood teaching; details later.
